FAST - Florida Assessment of Student Thinking
The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress monitoring tool that will be administered three times per year to track your student’s progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year. The purpose of this notification is to inform you that your student will participate in the third administration (PM) of the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Reading and Mathematics assessments between April 2026 (K-2) and May 2026 (3-5).
Students enrolled in grades 4–5 participate in B.E.S.T. Writing Assessments between March and April 2026.
Gifted Screenings and Evaluations
The St. Johns County School District screens all 2nd grade students each year to identify those who may be eligible for gifted services. Students at other grade levels are screened on a referral basis. Please refer to the gifted information page under our helpful links for information on the timeline and how to request screenings. Children in the St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) are allowed two screenings by any school in the SJCSD.
