Remembering Mr. Ortagus

We at Durbin Creek Elementary School have a special reason to relay. Since the school opened in 2003, Allan Ortagus worked tirelessly as our Maintenance Coordinator, overseeing the construction of the school and ensuring that the grounds were kept safe. He was an active member of our Relay for Life Team where he was always available to assist in fundraising events, and while still on chemotherapy, he took part in the Staff vs. Fifth Grade kickball game. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on for years to come serving thousands of children in the Julington Creek community.

Mr. Ortagus was an honored Survivor at the 2007 Relay event but passed away in September 2007 from cancer. Allan was an inspiration to many of the Durbin Creek Elementary Relay Team members and will always be remembered for his support of the Team while battling this disease. At the 2008 BTHS Relay for Life event, Mr. Ortagus was remembered during the first lap as his wife, Madeline, daughter Gia, and son Nick walked the first lap.

YOU ARE MISSED, MR. ORTAGUS.
